Articles: North Action Group
Group Report for AGM Sat 19 Jan 2008
I am pleased to advise that w.e.f. 1/1/08 Caithness General Hospital now has in post three substantive resident obs. & gynae. consultants ( replacing the previous two substantive and one locum ). This brings CGH back to the position which existed before NHS Highlands proposals 2/3 years ago to remove the resident obs. & gynae service. The result has justified the public's campaign.
Also I can report that for the first time ever CGH now has three substantive resident consultants in surgery, medicine and anaesthetics in addition to obs. & gynae.
Ambulance cover remains a topical issue in the remoter parts of the Highlands.

We confirm our support for the SHCN but travel/distance is a problem.

Current position regards our Campaign is that the Health Board have now advertised for three obs. & gynae. consultants. We await the response.
