Group Report 10 May 2008
SAVE STOBHILL CAMPAIGN REPORT 10-5-08 The Chairman of the Save Stobhill Campaign and the SNP party leader in East Dunbartonshire had met unsuccessfully with the Cabinet Secretary for Health in an attempt to get a review of the current situation at Stobhill Hospital. Similarly a request for an Independent Scrutiny Panel to review Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Acute Strategy Review was rejected on the grounds that the Review was too far advanced to be changed. Nicola Sturgeon did however state that the decisions being implemented would not necessarily have been her choice. She explained that the Monitoring Groups were very important and should be seen to report to her, and not to Greater and Clyde Health Board. The question of the audit of their functions required review. Signatures from the public in the Stobhhill catchment area are being collected with a view to presenting a further petition to the Scottish Parliament. Parking in the hospital continues to be major problem.
Save Stobhill Campaign Report 13 May 2006
Planning permission for the ACAD unit at Stobhill has yet to be approved by Glasgow District Council.
On 10 May it was learned that the submission had not included sufficient information about roads to Stobhill, nor had a Building Warrant been applied for.
It is therefore unlikely that planning approval will be granted at the end of May as had been expected.
In this connection it has been observed that clearance of the site at Stobhill had begun in anticipation of approval being granted. However no building work can commence until planning approval is granted.
As a result of this work taking place parking space is severely restricted.
On a more positive note, the announcement by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde that no beds will be moved from Stobhill until an in-patient unit is completed at Glasgow Royal Infirmary was warmly welcomed by all those involved in the Stobhill campaign group.
This will ensure the retention of in patient beds until 2011.
In addition to this, the announcement that £300,000 has been spent on upgrading and refurbishing the coronary care unit at the hospital was also regarded as good news.
